IALT: reflect on all the qualities of a leader, and the also on what I had learnt while being at our first Leadership lesson with Ms Latoya, and Mr Malu (Mr.M).
Today after the first interval usually it's straight to the top court's waiting on Fitness to begin, but today the schedule changed! All the students were called to meet with Ms Latoya and Mr Malu, for our first official leadership program. When we met up it was a bit nerve racking but we went straight into the lesson. The first we did was listen to Mr Malu give himself a big of a introduction! He talked about things like...
- The College he attended
- His past in teaching/studying
- Why he had passion for this?
Anyways we learnt a lot in this lesson! We were given a task which was to organise ourselves into 1 group of 3, pick a leader from Mr Malu's hat and write about the good and bad qualities this leader had. In the hat we had all sorts of leader from leaders that lead to bombing places and hating the good, to the people who loved people regardless of the differences, and people who preached for the better of others. I was put in a group with Ana, and Falakiko! The leader we were given was Saddam Hussein. The first facts we were able to identity was that he was the president of Iraq, and when he resigned he let the worse of him overcome, and overtake him as he was bombing places, starting wars and causing the death of 1 million people. We found this information from books, and the online website. So in this activity by the other groups reading out the good and bad qualities of this leader, we would guess that leader. Some leaders we guessed were..
- Hitler
- Jesus Christ
- Tevita
And much more meaningful leaders. At the end of this activity we talked about things these leader have in common and some idea's we came up with was...
- Ruthless
- Determination
- Confidence
- Intelligence
And much, much more! Then Ms Latoya picked certain people to share with the leaders the answers we had come up with.
In this lesson it built my knowledge on learning more in different ways! Mainly, because I thought with the power of technology, books are useless but I guess I've been proven wrong.
Always remember?! Becoming a leader starts with you. Slightly even the smallest changes can occur to the biggest challenges, & success achievements.
