🎤Karaoke Friday Reflection🎤

IALT: reflect on Tamaki Primary's first Karaoke Friday Session.

Last week on Friday lunchtime, Ana, Kenneth, & myself hosted Karaoke Friday for all the TPS senior classes to attend. Of course the choice was theirs and we thought since it was only the first lesson it wouldn't be as packed, or the hall wouldn't be as full as always! But turns out the outcome of people that came was the bigger than all out lunchtime activity classes. At first when people came we were all nervous but to get everyone warmed up we played the karaoke version of "Katy Perry Fireworks", I could tell from the people who were really making a effort and those who just came to get a laugh from others! Miss Aireen was on the side watching for any problems, or serious situation that could happen on stage, and though we thought NO TEACHERS were allowed were hoping in the long run us "Student Councilors" can be trusted in running our own program, for us student leaders, and participants of Karaoke Friday to bond more. After the first warm up song we called upon any confident people, or students who were brave enough to come onstage and sing for all their peers, and school mates! No one wanted to come on but after giving everyone a boost of confidence a young student "Maria" from room 6 volunteered to sing "How Far I'll Go" from the Disney Movie "Moana".  She sang and I was shocked how some year 7/8 kids from the classes room 9/10 couldn't come up but a young year 5 came up singing her heart off to show her talent and that impressed me. The next individual performer was Lovey a year 8 female in room 10. She sang a Beyonce song, "Listen". In my eyes I see Beyonce songs as an challenge to sing, well some of them but with Lovey she challenged herself, and she sang putting all her heart into it! Which was something I was able to see and spot just by hearing and watching her perform.

Next week my goal is to help everyone move out of their comfort songs, by playing singing or vocal games, or even just by giving them confidence boost talks! I also hope next week people can come for the right reasons, and not judge or pick on those who are confident enough to sing, but to surrport them!

A positive side I saw in Friday's activity was a large amount of people that came actually enjoyed themselves, and from the looks of it a majority of students would like to come back this week Friday, for the next Karaoke Friday session. Also something that made me personally feel good was when students asked why can't Karaoke Friday be everyday.

What do you think??
