reflect on how I completed Maths, using expanded form
For one of my Place Value Maths activity we had to complete a problem using expanded form, we had an example to help us out which was..
3478 = 3000 + 400 + 70 + 8
As you can see if you work through this problem backwards it would make more sense, and instead of it being "3478 = 3000 + 400 + 70 + 8" backwards it would be "8 + 70 + 400+ 3000+ = 3478", but in this case we had complete this task using expanded form..
- 348 = 300 + 40 + 8
- 764 = 700 + 60 + 4
- 809 = 800 + 9
- 3698 = 3000 + 600 + 90 + 8
- 5087 = 5000 + 80 + 7
- 5607 = 5000 + 600 + 7
- 23087 = 2000 + 300 + 80 + 7
- 43765 = 40000 + 3000 + 700 + 60 + 5
- 50790 = 50000 + 700 + 90
- 458701 = 400000 + 50000 + 8000 + 700 + 1
- 4658087 = 400000 + 60000 + 5000 + 800 + 80 + 7
- 3008703 = 300000 + 8000 + 700 + 3
As you can see I have tried my hardest to work through these problems, and hopefully by checking these answers with my class teacher (Miss Kormo) I shall hope for the best that all these answers are correct.
The most challenging part I found doing this problem, and finding these answers was when I was having trouble figuring the expanded form for the bigger number like for example.. 3008703, and 4658087.. Now that I have a better understanding of this type of problem solving, Next time it's more likely for me not to struggle and have difficulty with this!
