The TAMAKI Questions..?! (What I think about Tamaki so far?)

WALT: explain "What we think about Tamaki"?!
Today after our spelling test, we were given 2 questions related to Tamaki... We were put into groups of 4 people per group. Each group had to come up with as many idea's as they could.
The 2 questions given were....

  • WHAT MAKES TAMAKI SPECIAL?
  • HOW CAN WE MAKE TAMAKI A BETTER PLACE?
What makes Tamaki special?
  • Our uniforms
  • Our school values
  • Our sports
  • Our Students
  • Our staff members
  • Our Education
  • Our Confidence
How can we make Tamaki a better place?
  • Reflecting on the choices we make
  • Thinking about the choices we make
  • Having more cameras around the school
Reflection:

There were  different groups, each group had the opportunity to share their idea's with the whole class.. Both the questions answered. We had a range of answers... I found this activity/task very interesting we used, and listed a range of idea's from each person in our group! We also let everyone participate, and everyone had the opportunity to share their thoughts and idea's with one another. This group task got me use to working in a group, and also using our team building skills with one another.  Myself and the group I was working with, listed many interesting ideas that came from each person! Not everyone had the chance to share everything we listed but we did share a range of idea's.

Assembly Reflection

Assembly Reflection
Today before Assembly began I had the great honour along with "Jennifer", to show and give a tour of the school to Mr Chris Swann. Chris Swann was known the name of Mr Swan towards all the students attending Tamaki Primary. Mr Swan was so generous towards our school he donated a lot of money towards, Tamaki Primary School for New 2017 School Uniforms, and also New Sports Uniforms. When Assembly began our hosts (Raena & Jennifer) talked about how kind Mr Swann, was for donating to our school! It was also his birthday, so Miss Thompson kindly organised cards from individual classes, and also a mini cake for Mr Swann. The band performed between breaks, to keep the audience entertained, the Tamaki band sang "American Dream". At the end, all classes returned to doing their own thing, and the end of the day soon came!

Tuakana Teina Day Reflection

Tuakana Teina Day Reflection
Today Room 10 and Room 3 had a Tuakana Teina Day as one together. We did so much as one, and also learnt so much from each other. We made presentations based on Diwali, (Indian New Year) We also.. got those younger students to read to us.. and we created a "Diva". Unfortunately I wasn't able to stay because of certain commitments, I put my time and effort. I found Tuakana Teina very interesting, and also a good time to get and spend a lot more time with the younger children.Image result for children

Diwali - Tuakana Teina

WALT: reflect on the Diwali Presentation we worked on!
"Tuakana Teina Day"
Today Room 10 and Room 3 are having a Tuakana Teina Day! We were put into buddies and our first assignment was to create a presentation, showing the younger children (Room 3 Students) knowledge towards the Diwali Festival. My buddy was Htoo Say Wah, she read to me and explained what she knows about the Indian New Year (Diwali Festival). We also added images based and related to Diwali. For our first activity I find Tuakana Teina very exciting. It's a day to young with those who are younger aged, and also to have the opportunity to learn new things from each other (School Value: AKO)

We were also given 2 different videos to watch from..

If you have any feedback based on the "Tuakana Teina Diwali" presentation, please feel free to comment feedback, and suggestions to help my blogging skills, and learning skills improve more.

Technology Reflection

WALT: reflect on our Technology lesson

!TECHNOLOGY REFLECTION!

Today for Technology I was with Mr.Grundy! The class Mr.Grundy takes is "Hard Materials". I was able to complete the choice of making my final design, and also trace it on to the wooden square given. Mr.Grundy was a great help towards our class.. He showed us the safety of using the tools to create, our pewter necklaces. He set very STRICT rules on how many people, should be at different stations, and where we should be up to with our designs. I have to cut out my wooden square, and from their Mr.Grundy will then fill it up with the metal! He melts the metal, and then inserted it in the gap that is made while cutting the wood. With the document that was sent, there was a video that came along with it, which was basically showing.. how Mr.Grundy and another person creates the pewter necklace. Click below to view the video!

Celebrations - Brainstorm/Bus Stop Activity

What is the significance of celebrations?
I am learning to activate my prior knowledge about celebrations.
I am learning to make connections with this term’s inquiry topic of ‘celebrations’

Today I was able to complete a "Celebration" activity given to me. In this is basically questions related to celebrations. If you slide through this on slide 23 that is the class brainstorm we came up with (Room 10).  But from slide 3 - 22 is all the ideas I came up with independently.
