๐ŸŽคBand Practice Reflection๐ŸŽค

IALT: reflect on band practice...

Today during lunchtime, to 2.20PM the Tamaki Primary School, had band practice! We practiced, the 1st verse of 24K Magic, (Of course we cut off the inappropriate language), and Caleb started to teach all the different musical instruments their part for the song.. for example
  • Keyboard
  • Guitar/Bass
  • Drums
And also, talked to the vocalist which were at and attended band practice today which was, myself, Ana, & also 1 of our male singers Gary. Some songs, we sang were, American Dream, & with 24K Magic, and also See You Again! Working with new musicians in our band had helped me develop not only new things about music, but also but themselves.  Having a new band has helped me develop new skills, about music! Being around keyboard players, and drum players, and also guitar and bass players, helped me to have a better understanding off all those instruments! At 2.40 we were let go, and we were also told to go back to class for a year 7, & 8 syndicate assembly.

Something I found challenging, was working with new band members! Mainly, because I am use to last year's band members, but I'm always opened, to having new band members, and new opportunities!

Also, something I look forward to achieving next time, in Band practice is making sure we can all relate to each other, and also not to be afraid of making mistakes.

IALT: reflect on how I was able to attend Edgewater College's Tongan Practice!

Today for me was a very exciting day, I was able to have the greatest opportunity to travel to Edgewater College, and watch them practice and perform their Tongan Practice. I was excited to see there performances, knowing I myself is an Tongan girl also, yet to become something I would like to become as I get older, and experince more. The 2 different types of performers there doing is a So'oke, and a Ma'ulu'ulu. The reason why I went was because my older sister apart of this group! As we were on the way, I was excited seeing how Edgewater College works, espically how I MIGHT be attending that school. I felt that if I was attending that school, I guess I would have a preview of the way they practice  for Polyfest. Not only that also that I would already meet a few people that may or may not be my college classmates/friends. Honestly, I was nervous first hearing that myself, my mother, father and my little brother Amon would being going to Ma'asi (My Sister's) Tongan Practice, for Polyfest! I was excited, because I had joined a type of Tongan Group but just for our church, with some performances.

As we drove into the Edgewater College I was looking forward to seeing heaps of different things, and meeting new people! It was really boring at first, but then it was little entertaining. We got there and practice had just began.. there loud drums, big little sticks and students. They jumped up and down with sticks, and it was a very energetic active performance. Something I enjoyed while watching their performance was seeing the focus, determination, and cooperation all the students were putting into their performance, in order to make this performance, a hard working performance. Amon my little brother, and I got bored and HUNGRY so we decided to walk to the shop and have a bite to eat. On your way back from the shop, we clashed into my sisters (Sophia & Sydney), so we hopped into the car with them, and went back to the shop and basically, ate and bought more food. When we got back they were still practicing, but after a bit like 15 minutes or so they had finished their practice and as I looked over ti the left side of their practice there was all sorts of YUMMY, delicious food to eat, and drink!

We all ate different things, from sausages, to pizza, to chicken all the way to fizzy drinks, and OTAI! It was then the end of the day, and yet to come was home sweet home. Finally as hopped into the car cruising back home, my window was down and air felt as if t was running, and keeping up with me!

We were home and I was exhausted straight to sleep on the couch!

Something I found very hard to do while being there was meeting other people, and getting to know them, but luckily I was able to meet a few students! I was able to make small talk with them, and find out new different things about them!

If you were in a group for Polyfest, would you show commitment, and determination? Also WHY?

Many Thanks

๐ŸŽ—️Our New Math Groups๐ŸŽ—️

IALT: reflect on what we did for Maths

For Maths we found out what groups we were in, and Who we were in them with! There were 3 different groups. Each group had different amounts of people. I was in Group 3 with my peers, and classmates....

  • Rosemary
  • Leilani
  • Demetrius
  • Myself (Losana)
In each group, as team we had to come up with a Maths group name. Heaps of idea's passed out group but to all of us only one name stood out.

Everyone was given a opportunity to announce what their groups Maths name was.. The name we found were very entertaining, and interesting..
  1. Group 1's Name - Addition
  2. Group 2's Name - Islander Maths
  3. Group 3's Name (My Group) - NUMBER NINJA'S

At the end of this Maths lesson everyone knew each other, and one another's group name. Because we still 15 minutes before lunch time, we were put into 2 lines, and 1 person from each line, would compete with one another to find out how well they either know there, place value, addition, subtraction, or division. We even went up to Fractions! I found this activity very competitive everyone at least had to have at least 1 turn each. The person I competed with was Ana, the question we were given was 9 x 5, and the first person to answer the question wins a point for their team. I was in Team A, and the other team was TEAM B. At the end of my quiz I won knowing that the answer was 45. At the end of the whole game Team A had 7 points, and Team B had 4 points, meaning we had WON! After that we had 5 more minutes left using that to practice our place value. By this I mean we were given a number to figure out how to pronounce.

One thing I enjoyed with maths was when we had to figure out what our Maths Group, name was, it was very entertaining to look around and be surrounded with participating and contributing faces. What I found challenging was when we had to compete with one another!
