๐Ÿ€Basketball - Kiwisport Reflection๐Ÿ€

IALT: reflect on our Kiwisport - Basketball lesson.

After witnessing and going through today's Kiwisport lesson it was real different. One I've never seen before! When we walked outside ready for the Kiwisport lesson to begin it began spitting lightly upon us. Then it slowly went from light, to less light! And before we knew it we were rushing inside, along with the 2 Kiwisport teachers. Today our teachers were Coach Ya-Ran, and also Coach Peter! So basically in Kiwisport, the only things we were able to establish was high knees, to the full line and back, along with jumps. When we came inside we had around out 20-30 minutes left in our lesson, so to get our Basketball knowledge to extend more, our 2 coaches deiced to give us a quiz. And whoever reaches 5 points, is free from doing either 5 star jumps, pushups, or situps! While the rest of class suffer the consequences! They asked questions like..

  • How many people on a Basketball team?
  • How many people are allowed on the bench?
  • How many seconds do you have before shooting?
And many other questions that was able to stretch my knowledge out on Basketball. By doing these questions, quizzes, and this activity it was also able to get me learning, and developing more! For example I didn't know 12 players were on a basketball team, and only 7 players were allowed on the bench while the other 5 players were playing on court. It also occurred to me that there are 2 different types of dribbling.
  • Dribbling 1- Bouncing the ball with 2 hands
  • Dribbling 2 - Bouncing the ball above your shoulders

I also learnt a lot form peers for example, how much Basketball Knowledge they have based on this amazing sport!

Do you know anything about Basketball?!

Next time, I hope the weather is good to us providing with the sunshine we need to get through with our lesson! I also wish to learn more around this sport.

I actually thought Basketball, and Netball had huge similarities but after the quiz we went through I was able to realise instead of the similarities, I thought they had they actually have huge differences between each other!

What are your thoughts on this reflection?

๐Ÿธ Kiwisport Reflection (Badminton)๐Ÿธ

IALT: reflect on Kiwisport

Today, at 9.40 Room 9, travelled to hall using our legs, for Kiwisport. The sport we were learning, and practicing was BADMINTON. Today's Badminton lesson was all about MOVEMENT, but before we got started we started the lesson of with a little "Stuck In The Mud". Today's rules changed a little, the rules that if had gotten tagged, in order to be free someone has to come and clap between your legs still applied... But the change of rules were the 3 taggers and everyone else had to move by left and right! We played at 2 games, then the Badminton fun began.

Ben (Kiwisport Instructor), talked about how we are going to use our four hand grips, and backhand grip, relates to our leg movements towards the shuttle. If we were right handed, the movements of our legs should go, Left leg forward first followed by our right leg, with our racket held b y our right hand, swinging towards the shuttle either in the four hand grip, or the backhand grip. If you were a left hander it was really similar, the racket should be held by your left hand, and your right leg should move first followed by your left leg, and your hand & racket swinging in the same direction (left), with either a backhand grip, or a four hand grip. The boy's were put outside to practice outside due to the small space in our hall, and to avoid people from getting hurt. I paired up with ANA, and we practiced using these leg, and arm movements.

The aim of this was to not only reach for the shuttle but actually have movements inside of you! At first I found it very difficult, but in the long run Ben did help me improve more, on what I needed to improve on. The most challenging part of this game that I found was keeping inside my brain that your racket should be held in your right hand, and your left leg should move first then your right leg (Because I am right handed). Once that activity was over, we were gathered back into the hall and he talked how we could try and use the movements we were just practicing, and putting them into action, By this I mean using them in relies. Myself, and Ana, tried our best using these but I think the hardest part of this was when we had to keep in mind that we had to use before. At the end of that the lesson was finished!

I believe throughout the lesson the most difficult part overall was when, we had to have relies using the movement skills Ben taught us, using our legs and arms!

Next time I look forward to working on improving more on my movements, and less reaching for the shuttle and more moving towards the shuttle.

Kiwi Sport Reflection

WALT: reflect on what we learnt at kiwi sport
KiwiSport Reflection

The person who was in charged of teaching us, and showing us skills based on basketball.. was known by the name, of Murlet!

Today at Kiwisport, we learnt how to defend the player, with the ball.. and we also played a full a game. But before we did any of that we learnt a certain basketball move, in this certain move the movement, that was needed to do was to hop.. taking turns with your left and right leg. So basically what needed to be done was you would, hop with your right, leg then with your left leg, and lastly you would then jump on your left leg.. aiming the ball towards the hoop.. with the left knee up and with the left leg of the ground.

As we played the full court game.. we were spilt into 2 different teas. In each team there was at least 4 players.. both teams had exactly 2 of each gender (2 girls, and 2 boys). As we played the game, we had to use the skills, and movement we learnt before playing.. with the defending skills, and shooting skills!

I learnt a lot of things based on basketball, during the lesson. I also look forward to the next basketball lesson we will be having!
