Fitness... Day #2

Image result for running

IALT: reflect on how I was able to pace myself.

Yet again, another day of fitness.. running, exercising, and staying fit and healthy. It was all about racing.. year 7&8 boys, 12 year old girls.. and 12 year old boys. It was really fun to see all the competitive faces, and competition people brought to the field.

Some people weren't feelings the vibe to run. For personal reasons though of course. Anyways.. it was time for the year 8 girls to run, which was...

  • Me (Losana)
  • Ana
  • Tatum
  • Irys
  • Faith
The competition was on. Some of us jogged, which was me.. and some of us ran at their fastest speed. It was hard for me to feel the competition.. espically when not everyone was particapating.

One thing I would like to work on next time is making sure I'm doing my part in involving everyone, and making sure they feel safe&happy.

My biggest challenge was feeling the run and sprint spirit. But as leader it is apart of my goal to make sure everyone is participating and contributing.

If you were in my position, what would your goal be?

The New&Improved Fitness

IALT: reflect on how fitness was done differently.

Through Monday to Wednesday (today) fitness has been new, improved, and more relevant. It's on countdown.. in only a few days more until the big day of 'athletics' comes. So to keep us fit, yet a bit more warmed up we've decided to race with the actual year levels or peers we would be racing on the day.. just to kind off give us that vivid picture of how it would be.

Both classes of room 9 & 10 come together to be put into groups of.. year 7 girls, year 8 boys, year 8 girls and so on.. we would then line on the race tracks and race one another. Some jogged, some spirited, some walked.. though we did participate.

With our races its between racing with students the same current age as you, or the same current year level.. it's what the races are based upon.

At first I was tired, and the sun was draining my energy out so when the group I was apart of, was called up I made my way up and jogged it out. Then I felt the actual temperature and heat of the competition against my body.. I then began actually running. I ran with..
  • Ana
  • Irys
  • Faith
  • Kalo
  • Alone
Somehow I was able to find myself coming in 2nd place. With Ana leading.. I felt good. Not only was I able to run my hardest with my peers and make an incredible placing but I was also able to participate and contribute and have a good time.

I can't wait till Friday! To see all the colours, costumes and competition people decide to being on the day of the race! This year with Benghazi.. Win OR Lose.. Having fun is still the main point with me. Who cares about placing?! Have a great time, and make great memories and if we are able to make a place on the shield that could count as a bonus celebration!

One thing I found challenging was actually racing other than jogging. I wasn't in the mood for serious competition yet, I still had to run and set a good example as a leader to others.

My goal for next time is to... have a change of mindset and help for others to run it out too!

Anyways, what do you think about our 'new&improved' fitness?

Fitness - Reflection

IALT: pace myself.

So today for fitness we were one teacher short (Kelly). She wasn't able to be with us for fitness so we did 2 laps around the bike track, and 2 stations with Miss Komor, and Miss Kyla.

Now to the bike track laps... When we were running some were running at their hardest, while others seemed drained out already. Myself, Frances, Ana and Akanesi, were still at the beginning of the bike track, but by the time we looked over some of our peers already over half way. 1st lap was done, and I was still up. 2nd lap done, and we made it. We got back cheering on the rest of our peers making there way to the finish line.

1st station was all about squats and step ups. I think most of my peers were still a little bit tired from the 2 laps they weren't able to keep energised which was understandable. Though I could tell everyone was still trying there best to keep an open mindset.

2nd station, walking lunges and plank holds. That just made my thighs hurt. I tried my best to keep going but I found it hard knowing I was a little tired. So yes I did stop with another one of my peers Frances. It was only about time that Miss Komor noticed and made us stay longer to successfully complete the plank hold like everyone else.

We were done.. and we were on our way to class. Some of my fellow students approached the tap to have a drink before leaving to class.

Next time I hope to keep steady, and set a pace where I am able to keep consistently moving.

My next steps in fitness is to encourage my peers to keep going rather than to give up, and stop. I hope what happened today with the second station doesn't happen again. As a leader I would like to set a positive example, and help to keep my peers mindset to be open to doing and trying new things.

What was my biggest challenge in todays fitness session, well that was quite simple. Keeping active. I had the energy to stay up but I personally choose to give up due to my mood, feelings and emotions. However, I had realised that letting my personal and educational emotions and feelings get in the way of my fitness isn't always the best choice.

What are your thoughts on how I should improve more on fitness, and why?

Please leave a comment down below for me to view, and use in the future.

🎽 Cross Country Run - Fitness 🎽

Image result for running

IALT: find a pace I can consistently move to...

So today our fitness routine changed a little bit. Instead of the usual bike track run, and 2x station fitness we went on a run outside of school. We had to run the block! We started of at the exit and entry gate to the left hand side of the school. We ran past the car entry, around tot eh somerville entry, ran along the tamaki intermediate gate, back up around the foot path along the main road at the walking entry and back into the left hand gate where we first started of.

As we ran a lot was going through my head. For example when I started running I started running with 3 girls from both room 9 and 10. Who were.. Stacey, Frances and Ana. When we ran I realised one of the 4 stayed behind (Frances), but then we all walked and waited for her to catch her breath. We made their as one, and as a group with no team member left behind. But.. one thing that was going through my head when some wanted to leave some member of the team behind was that there was no 'i" in team. I said it out loud and gave the group the boost of confidence they needed.

In the end it was tiring for me but I found that I was able to find the Cross Country run much more easier and less difficult than our usual fitness routine.

Something I wish to work on next time is to.. encourage more of my peers to run for it, and to believe in themselves more.  I hope to see that people will have more of a growth mindset to encourage themselves to keep going no matter what.

The most enjoyable part I find in completing the Cross Country run was starting with a group and finishing, and crossing the line with those very teammates.

If you were to experince this run what would your main highlight be?

πŸƒ‍♀️Fitness Reflection πŸƒ‍♀️

IALT: set a good example for my younger peers in room 8 to follow.

Now, because room 10 had to attend an important talk based on Food for Thought, which is related to our Inquiry topic last term. Room 8 took their place but before getting started we were put in pairs to lead by example with our room 8 buddies. Ana and myself, were put with Arizona and Alyssa.

We started off with the run, we set a pace we could all the way finding that we were the 2nd group who reached back, being the first girls. As Siale, Gary and their buddy beat us. But I hope to beat them next time (you know?!). Anyways we then moved on to the first station which was squats and step ups. I was so amazed with the speed they had in moving consistently I began to challenge myself. With doing the squats we made sure our shoulders were should qise apart, and made sure when we went down we had a bottoms pushed out, heels staying on the ground, and going down low. Then we went onto the step ups. It was quite boring to be honest, because the steps were wet we had to be very careful in case of tripping, slipping of falling off. It was important to avoid injuries. But anyways, with star jumps and reverse lunges.. We did great well, in my view point. As we did star jumps we jumped high, high fiving both our hand together above our head which was fun and simple. Miss Komor demonstrated what a reverse lunge is which is going back. Kind of like this...

But before we knew it it was over, and time to say goodbye. Honestly, it was fun to do something new, with new and different people. I was able to see what the younger ones of the school were able to achieve! Next time we could compete against classes?

Would you be willing to buddy up with a younger age group to see their capabilities?

Please leave a comment down below... I hope to get back to you!

🚴‍♀️Fitness Reflection 🚴‍♀️

IALT: find a pace where I can confidently keep moving.

The teachers for Fitness Miss Kyla, Kelly, and Ms Kalenjuk, the activities Reverse Lunges, Star Jumps, Shuttle Runs, Squats and Step Ups. Ms Kalenjuk may sound unfamiliar to those who keep up with my blog posts, maybe because she is our reliever for today! As Miss Komor  is on release today, Ms Kalenjuk will be taking room 9 today! She held Miss Komor station, but sadly when we got to her station we weren't able to successfully accomplish the activity! The reason for that was because for the whole 1 minute we should have been actively moving Ms Kalenjuk was too busy in demonstrating the exercise, she lost track of the time limit given! But in the Squats and Step Up station with Miss Kyla, it was calm! I was able to keep moving in the time frame given, and I was also able to do that while doing the shuttle runs!

In this lesson something I would like to improve on is having a growth mindset. By this I mean not giving others the opportunity to set the example for me but me setting it for them. Though I am not confident in sport, or anything related in sport as a leader my priority is to set a positive example for the young ones.

An activity that had challenged was the bike track run. When Ana, and myself came out they had already started and we were the last ones to start but luckily we raced up in front many people, making a speedy recovery. But still, next time I would like to start as a class and finish and as class, rather than starting as an individual and ending as a group, class, tribal, squad or a team!

What is your opinion on this reflection, or on our fitness session today?

Many Thanks!
