Adding That Extra 'E' - Writing

IALT: explain in all 3 statements how the statement effects me. (Adding that extra 'E')

So last week, I missed the writing session about the extra 'E' we added on the S.E.E structure. Instead of 2 "E's" it has now changed into 3. For those of you, who's understanding isn't as fond this below should for you to understand better.

  • S - Statement
  • E - Explanation
  • E - Example
  • E - Effect
As you can see the last 'E' added stands for Effect. After stating your statement, explaining your statement, setting up an example to back up your statement, you then move on to the effect it has or may have on you.

As I blogged about before... I completed my explanation writing on a place of 'Whanaungatanga' in the community. However, I completed the S.E.E structure, not the S.E.E.E structure. See the differences? So I got work in explaining how it may or may has had an effect on me.

Take a look. Though I am still looking for feedback and feedforward on how I can improve, as it was my first time writing with an extra 'E' (Effect).

Below is the my explanation writing with the explanation template which guided me in completing this.

Title
This will start with HOW... or WHY...
The mansion of our prayers.
Introduction
What are you going to explain?  How will you hook the reader in?
A place to praise his name, pray for our sins, and thank him for all. “Church” within our community is a place of safety, a place of Jesus, and a place of peace. A place of freedom and wisdom. Where building relationships begin, and where faith, hope and understanding is created.
Paragraph One
What is your first statement or main point? (S.E.E.E)
A ‘church’ is where building relationships begin.

In finding people who agree and disagree with your perspective on things will help you understand. Will help for you to discuss deeper things than to just agree or disagree. It is where building relationships with others begin.

For example in discussing different things in relation to ‘church’ will help for you to exchange perspectives and building more relationships as the conversation digs deeper than expected.

This takes a huge effect on me in every way. Not only do I exchange idea’s and thoughts with others… but I also understand the thoughts of others which I believe shall help for me to.. Understand things clearer and better. In building more relationships through discussions and conversations in different ways has personally helped for me to identify things I wasn’t able to dig deep enough to find.
Paragraph Two
What is your second statement or main point? (S.E.E.E)
In my perspective he is praised for his miracles.

He was able to feed the poor, help the helpless, and transform things never done before! Not only making history for his own fame and fortune, but for the sake of others.

For example, turning water into wine.. Crucifying himself for us, up to this day, and walking upon water. Throughout all these miracles created by himself we thank him for the lives saved, and for the love shown and given by him.

How does this affect me, while it affects me through my beliefs and understandings. Through reading more, and discovering it helps for me to share and expand more on my knowledge so far on his miracles. Through information and stories passed down through the bible and my elders/ancestors.
Paragraph Three
What is your third statement or main point? (S.E.E.E)
Learning and identifying more about the bible.

Building relationships with people in the bible. Though they maybe gone, in believing and thanking them for the stories recorded on the bible will help for you to identity and have a clear understanding on what your personal thoughts are on this character.

For example in reading a bible verse may help for you to identify why, how, and what type of human being they were then. In skimming and scanning through quick info to find and to dig deeper will also help for you to find not only hidden information but more of your own thoughts.

By learning more can effect my knowledge and thoughts on the bible. Perspectives may change and agreements and disagreements may change. Through the bible, my peers and other relationships currently building, and built within the church.
Conclusion
The conclusion sums up all the ideas and repeats a key message to end.  This could be a recommendation or a personal connection.
Through my personal experience with the church and my knowledge and personal beliefs of the church.. I’ve found it as a place that I can feel safe and I can trust him with it. Through my explaining my problems and seeking for his help. I have built relationship within people from my church. In beliefs, agreements, and disagreements it helps for us to properly understand what we and the difference between what I and my peers think.

What are your thoughts on this?

As I said above I am still looking for feedback and feedforward on different ways how I may improve on my work. Do please feel free to leave a comment!

Muchly Appreciated.

Explanation Writing - The Mansion Of Our Prayers

Image result for explanation writing

IALT: write a piece of explanation text based on an important place in the community.

So for writing my task was to write an piece of explanation text about an important place to me around our community. The location/place was easy I straight away knew. 'Church'. My first step was to plan a eye-catching and interesting title. From there I would plan my first, second and third statement. Moving forward I would begin to write my conclusion, and once all was complete I would then re-edit and go through my text to find errors, and mistakes.

I have successfully been able to complete all of these steps, leading to even putting it on a proper bloggable DLO to share to the world using my learning blog.

One thing I enjoyed in this task was writing about how the church relates to me, and what I do. For example in the explanation text it talks about how I attend church in order to praise and to pray for him. Thank him for all the glory and all the mircales hes left upon us today.

My next steps are to get feedback and feedforward from my peers, teachers, viewers and readers of this very blog post.. to help me improve on my explanation writing.

What are your thoughts on my explanation text?

Please leave a comment down below for me to view in the future as I begin to strive further and further more. I look forward to viewing, reading, and taking in the feedback you've published.

Muchly Appreciated,

Ancestor Poems

Image result for tongan

IALT: create a poem about my ancestors.

So with Miss Aireen for writing.. Our task as individuals was to create a poem about our ancestors. It took me a while but after having repetitive discussions with my family about my ancestors, and those elders before me I've been able to develop new things for my past, and also developed new things about myself.

What are your ancestors to you?

With me, my ancestors are the people who guided me to the place I am today. They created my way and path in life for me to follow.

This poem really caught my attention. I was writing those before me, which honestly I didn't know much about. I knew who they were, but I wasn't so sure what they did to get me here! So I needed to know HOW, which lead to discussions with my family. By asking more questions in relation to this part of my learning, helped me in finding the answers I really needed. Which lead me to this creation below...

With this task I found it really fun! But my goal for next time, is to write about my different nationalities. Not just that one main one I have. I want to ask more about me, my elders, relatives, and ancestors.

If you were in my position what would you want to know? And why? How would it impact your life, and your future? For the better or worse?

What do you think about this?

Please leave a comment down below for me to view!

πŸ“ Cinquain Poem - Music πŸ“

Image result for poetry

IAL: to write about a Cinquain poem based on a hobby I have.

Do you know what a Cinquain poem is? Well it's a type of poetry. We discussed a Cinquain poem while we were talking about poetry for writing. I decied to base my poetry on Music. The layout or the adjustment of a Cinquain poem is to start off with 2 syllables, moving onto 4, then 6, up to 8, and back down to 2.

I tried my best in following the set out of a Cinquain poem. Though I do think I have a bit of work to do on this type of poetry.

Now I don't have much knowledge on this type of poetry but I would like to gain more, and have more experince with it... As I should develop more as we learn more about this during our writing time.

Some I enjoyed, was getting the opportunity to write my own type of Cinquain poem. It has helped me realise another type of poetry (Cinquain).

My goal, is to use this type of poetry more often in relation to my learning. In instead of writing long stories, or short raps maybe I could use a Cinquain.

Have you ever written a Cinquain poem?

Please leave a comment down below for me to view as I shall keep blogging. I hope to see feedback, feedforward, and suggestions on how YOU think I could improve more in the future in relation to my learning.

Muchly Appreciated,

❔What am I grateful for? - Free Writing❔

IALT: deeply reflect on my 3 choices of what I am grateful for!

Image result for jesus

Today in free writing, usually we would only have 30 minutes (half an hour) of writing, but due to Kiwisport we've been given 1 hour of free writing. Miss Komor, gave us 1 topic which was to write about What we are grateful for. To successfully complete this task in writing about this we had to use the S.E.E structure which as an reminder stand for...
  • S - Statement
  • E - Explanation
  • E - Example
We had to choose 3 different topics! With myself, I choose to write about how I am grateful for Jesus crucifying himself, the family I currently have, and the shelter or home I am living in. But it wasn't easy thinking about what I am grateful for, so I began to think about my past! For example I thought church and the relations somethings have to church! Which is how I came up with Jesus! With my family I thought about what I did at home with my family, and therefore it was a 2 in 1 idea.

Here is my free writing on what I am grateful for!

The difficulties I found in completing this task was keeping the statement, explanation, and example separate from each other. At times I got carried away and in getting carried away I tend to write more and I tend to combine then into one! But after deeply thinking and reading through and in between the lines I have written, I was able to find where I went off task, and I was able to fix the mistakes I had made.

The most enjoyable part of this task was how I was able to quickly find an example. And surprisingly the examples that I had came up were real life events!

If I were to set a goal for next time, it would have to be practicing in completing the S.E.E structure using different topics, so I can get more familiar with the structure, and for me to use it correctly in my future work that relates to the S.E.E structure.

Have you ever used the S.E.E  structure? What was your main difficulties?  Why?

Please leave a comment own below and I look forward in using your feedback, and viewing your feedforward!

Many Thanks.... 😁

πŸ‘ͺThe Tamaki Primary School ValuesπŸ‘ͺ

WALT: use the S.E.E Structure to explain why it is important to show our school values.
Today room 9 were given a task to define the 5 Tamaki Values using the S.E.E Structure! The 5 Tamaki values we have are...

  • Ako
  • Rangimarie
  • Tukumarie
  • Whanaungatanga
  • Manaakitanga
And they all define different things for example.. Ako is learning, Rangimarie is peace, Tukumarie, is Tolerance.. Whanaungatanga is all about building new positive relationships and last but not least Manaakitanga is all about caring and loving each other!

The S.E.E states 3 different things for example.. the "S" stands for or states Statements, the The first "E" states Explanation and the last "E" stands for Example. I've used this structure to state, explain, and also give an example to support my example!

Here is the presentation I have created showing explanations, examples, and statements on supporting Why I think it is important to show these values.

My "Practice" Narrative Writing

I am learning to practice on how I could use FIgurative Language, and other writing prompts I could include in my Writing.

So earlier today we had the opportunity to have a "Practice Writing Test", Every single person in Room 10, was given the same Image to write about..

The Writing Image
(Every picture tells a story)

My Story:

Late at night, before midnight strikes... a young child walks along the “Forest Full of Mysteries”! The young female, was taken and known by the name of.. “Katlyn”. She wears a red cloak, and enters carrying a basket.. As she walks further and further she is seeking a special “bush”. The bush she is looking for, will help her to heal her mother from the sickness she has! Then “DOOM, DOOM, DOOM” Midnight, hits and as she walks MILLIONS, of thought run through her head! She then begins to think to herself, “I feel as if the trees follow my every step”, but she just believed it was her imagination.. And carried on moving. All of a sudden, she turns back in a shock and she find, the trees long vines begin to undo themselves, and sway towards her side by side… She breaths in and out, and tries to calm herself slowly. Later that morning, she passed along a strange place in the forest. It was circled, around them with burnt, leaves, branches, and vines. When “Katlyn” realised it was a circle, she thought it was strange but didn’t assume anything.. After a while it was approximately, 12.58AM and she was still looking for the “bush”... Then 3,2,1 BOOM.. Lightning strikes, Thunder Hits, and the Trees swaying side by side, sound as if they are whistling.. She is speechless, shocked, and all of those INTIMIDATING emotion are running through her body! She then released her torch from the basket she had been carrying, and looked around herself.. BOOM she realises a whole bunch of “WILD WOLVES” surround her, and she takes 2-3 seconds to breath, and then she thinks RUN!!!!!!! The wolves chased but though she ran before them her speed, was no match for them.. She then surrendered and stood there. The wolves walked closer and closer, and still she was shaking.. The wolves were covered in blood.. “Bloody Blood Bursting Brightly”. They then attacked at once, but luckily a helicopter was on the look for her. Her “mother” was afraid something may of happened to her while she was looking for the “bush” to heal her.. So she called Emergency Services, and they realised her “BRIGHT RED CLOAK”..! They let down a ladder and as she reached for it, they pulled her up slowly.. But one of the “WILD WOLVES” were ready to attack.. They caught her Cloak, and she they had no choice but to undo her cloak.. And so she did, she was up and safe but injured badly.. She was bleeding from leg, and stomach! They flew her to nearest hospital available and she was treated with medicine to heal her..! Once she was discharged, and released.. She went home and found that her mother sadly died! “Dangerous Days Dreadfully Dyed Deeply”, She cried and cried but she knew her tears wouldn’t bring her back to life..!! They had a funeral for her, and she laid there and was buried peacefully! 10 years after her mother died, she was living with her family (Husband and 3 kids).. As they drove by the forest “Full Of Mysteries” it was OFF LIMITS!! She helped them realise that it would be more helpful to help others realise their are boundaries for their children, and also themselves! She felt as if she did the world a favour, and saved many more lives from dieing!

I hope my story was able to hook my audience in, and want you to keep reading!
