Careers - Reflection

IALT: reflect on what I learnt during the Careers lesson we had with Miss Aireen.

Today with the 2 hours we had in the middle block was the beginning of our first lesson with Miss Aireen on the next phase of Careers, which was Inquiry. With this lesson our main focus was the word 'Mauri'. Throughout this lesson was all about, defining the word, reading about the word, learning more about the word, and sharing your thoughts on the word itself. First we were shared a google presentation.. which showed us a brief story about Papatuanuku and Ranginui.

We then began to discuss and share with our peers and teacher what the story told us.. basically just a brief description/summary in our words defining what it means to us.

But anyways, we then began to move in the area of defining the word, and answering questions around the topic, along with creating different DLO's of the topic.

DEFINING 'MAURI' IN MY OWN WORDS.. ⇡

Honestly, my biggest challenge in completing this task had to be finding what my inner-Mauri is. And defining and understanding my own personal definition to the word itself.

My next steps with the next lesson we have is to.. explore more and deeper within my inner-Mauri, and explore more of the 'Maori World'...

💭 Career - Definition 💭

IALT: define the work 'career' in my own words.

So before going straight to my own words, and understanding I needed inspiration. I thought about this.. then I researched what 'googles' definition of career was. I was able to copy and past this definition onto a DLO, then transforming 'googles' words into my own I was able to create and understand how I would define the word 'career'.

This was given as a part of several tasks related to the 'careers' program taken by Miss Aireen for the Kia Manuwanui Year 7/8 Syndicate.

 

With my next steps is defining what I would like for my career to be in the future. For example as I grow older and develop interest in different things.

💙 My Qualities - Careers 💙

IALT: explain 2 different qualities I have.

As you know Miss Aireen does a program with the year 7/8 of Tamaki Primary every Friday. This program is designed to get us thinking about our futures, and careers as humans, and as the future generation to this earth.

In completing this task I have created a DLO explaining 2 different qualities I have as a human being. I thought about this deeply, and I was stuck for a bit. Then I turned to my peers Frances. I asked her what types of qualities she thinks I have. Then she named a lot, some of the qualities I thought I never had or never seen in myself. But then as I wrote about it, I tried to relate this into different area's of my life. For example my learning, education, my family and friends.

One thing I found interesting about this task was being able to write my about in a positive way. I'm not use to these types of 'tasks', for example usually its about writing about character in a book, or comparing 2 different things, but with this 'career' program for the year 7/8 of Tamaki Primary it's about YOURSELF. Which is something I admire about this program. It helps for me to think about myself, my future, and the next steps I am planing for my future or my long run.

Overall, after completing this task I have realised a lot. I have a lot of qualities as a human being, but as a goal to set for myself I would like to earn more, as days, hours, minutes, and seconds pass by. I truly believe in gaining more loving qualities will help 'shape' the person I am becoming, and I have become.. awaiting to gain more experince and awaiting to develop more about myself as I explore my future.
