Technology - Reflection

IALT: explain what we are currently doing while being at Technology.

Today's lesson is all about focus, concentration and moving forward in our clock designs. We've been given our circles to draw onto our design.

Before starting Miss Ferguson started off with giving us that brief description and example on what and how we will be doing.

Above.. ⇡is an example. With the circle shaped wood, you wood copy the emoji face onto the circle. It was simple... But to make things easier to trace we would print a copy of the emoji to trace onto the wood from the A4 paper. The key to this was finding a right size to print and fit in the circle.

So basically this lesson was about starting on the actual clock design. As Miss Ferguson said.. 'It isn't a one lesson/session job'.. work does take time. But the main idea was to work hard and get something relevant done before ending of the session.

Myself and Toma, had the same design! What a coincidence?! So to help each other.. with the things we need to work on in relation to this design.. we would be able to give each other advice.

With me & Toma, what we found the most challenging, was finding the right image size to print and trace from.

Our next step from there was to start painting our design. Well only for those people who had finished drawing/tracing their designs.

Something I find that I need to work on is tracing my design within the time frame given.

Technology - Graphics

IALT: reflect on what we did during Technology.

Today for the first hour (9-10), we were asked to complete a design brief on our client, and their likes. In that time we were also asked to create a DLO (Google Drawing), showing images on my clients like.

Now with the design brief...

With the design brief we were asked to list 5 different people we could create our creation for. At the end we had to come to a final decision of 1 person only. In the DLO will show the 5 people I thought of at first, and also the final client I choose to create this creation for. I also have listed 5 likes of my final client.

As you can see my final choice of my client was my Father. My father is my inspiration! He keeps me going, and also gives me that boost I need. He is a very deserving parent, who supports, encourages, and keeps me in pursuing my dreams.

With the 2nd part I created another separate Google Drawing (above this text).. showing images of my client's likes. My goal with this task was to only use images to talk. Instead of being plane and simple, I decided to use images to express my clients likes.. The images shown on the DLO above this text is the same likes shown on the Design Brief which is shown more above of this.

Our next mission was to fold a piece of A4 paper into 4 different sections. Then in those sections come up with idea's on what we would want to design our clock like. I worked with Toma on this task. Our theme was 'emojis'...

Take a look at my piece of paper....

What are your thoughts on my work design, and my technology reflection?

Please leave a comment down below for me to view!

Many Thanks!!

πŸš‚ Hard Materials Reflection πŸš‚

IALT: reflect on my Hard Materials reflection

Today with our technology groups we all switched. So the former cooking group moved to Hard Materials, Hard Materials moved to Graphics, and Graphics moved to Cooking. It was a bit weird at first because with me I usually use to walking in and putting on my apron, and getting my cooking ingredients out... but this week it was different, to different. I walked in and sat down ready to be showed and taught new things. We went through all the rules at first which didn't take very long. Mr Grundy (Hard Materials Teacher) only had 5 main rules which applies while staying in his classroom. Which is,

  • Don't fiddle - Dont touch others belongings
  • Stools have 4 legs for a reason - Sit properly on your chair
  • Closed In Shoes - Make sure you're always wearing closed in shoes
  • Go before you come - Make sure you go bathroom before entering the room
  • Stay put - Stay in one place before accidents happen
So to get started with making our designs... We had to PLAN then. We had to plan up to 10 different idea's on what to make before making our mind(s) up on which 1 design we would choose to make. I only got up to planning and designing 3 ideas which was.. A birdhouse, A ship, and also a box. Mr Grundy said that in order to create your design it had to have a purposeful meaning to it. For example if I were to make a box the meaning or the purpose for making this box was to put things in it and to clear up space.

Here is a photo of some Hard Material design, I found online.

Something I found challenging about this activity was that I wasn't able to focus properly. For example usually my mind would be able to easily think and adapt to new things but because I've never been in a class like this my mind or I needed to get use to somethings. Or in other words a new classroom.

But one thing I admire about this class is that you get to choose what you make, and with what you choose is what you think you're capeable to do.

Please leave a comment with your thoughts on this?!

Thanks :)

🍩Technology - Blueberry Muffin Reflection 🍩

WALT: reflect on how we made Blueberry Muffins at Technology.

Today was our last cooking session before shifting to Hard Materials, to Mr.Grundy. So all year 7 and 8 students created or made the same thing which was... "Blueberry Muffins". As we made this it was sad because when you look back on the healthy, yummy and delicious meals and think about no more eating on Thursday morning it breaks my heart.. but then again as we think about the more things and opportunities we can learn and take it opens you up to want to explore more of the world. It felt like fast lesson but in the lesson I've learnt a lot for example.. How to make
  • Oreo Shake
  • Cinnamon Muffin
  • Fruit Salad
And many more important dishes I can make at home. I worked with Curty's for our last cooking lesson and it was fun because in the long run I've learnt a lot, like for example how to properly wash and dry dishes how to mix using different cooking materials... and many important things.

My Blueberry Muffin...

Something I enjoyed about this lesson was that I've learnt a lot and I have now learnt how not only I do things in, out and around the kitchen but also how other people do things!

Something I want to work on next time is thinking about how I can do things differently by getting feedback, from my peers, classmates, teacher, teach aides, and also MY BLOG AUDIENCE.!!!

Please leave a comment with a piece of your advice, suggestions, and feedback on how you think I can improve on next time!

Many Thanks.

WALT: share and inform our audience about.. our first week back at Technology!

This is our first week back at school, and because it's our first week, that then means TECHNOLOGY!!! "Yahhhhhhhh". Today for Technology we made Macaroni, with Onions, Ham, Salt, and also Cheese. Firstly we had to boil water, and then insert the Macaroni inside the boiling water, so it could soften up. After that we sliced up onions, and also ham! We then cooked it and once that was finished we then poured the Macaroni out of the bowl, and into the courlander, and from there we put everything into one bowl, and mixed nicely! Lastly we served the food onto the bowls, and enjoyed!!
Thank you for reading, and also the images above is the cooking equipment we needed to complete the cooking of, the Macaroni!
