๐ŸธFinal Badminton Reflection๐Ÿธ

IALT: reflect on our FINAL Badminton session!

As if from today, at 9.40AM was officially our last Badminton lesson for the rest of the YEAR! Our instructor BEN, has helped me learn a lot with Badminton with the past few weeks we were working with him. For example, how to hold different racquet grips, and the best way to also approach and reach out for the shuttle! Honestly, I am very devastated knowing  that it was our last week, but I am also very interested and looking forward, to our next sport which is SKATEBOARDING!

We firstly, just started with a normal warm up! The only thing was when we had started with the warm-up, it wasn't stuck in the mud! We tried something new, the game we played was that if someone, was to touch the area, around or our knees, you have to do 5 star jumps, and you were basically back in the game!

As we were playing this game the one thing, that I found challenging was that because a big class, was playing in a small space, it was hard for me not to bump, hit or break anything! I felt like we were a given a small space to play around, which was a real big challenge, seeing the active happy faces!

Then throughout the whole lesson, all we did was play 1 on 1, badminton using a net! We were divided into 2 different groups, and each group had to be formed into a line, waiting for a/their turn to play! It was really hard at first because I kept hitting the shuttle to hard, and with less control, but as timed passed I was able, to put more control into my hand, and also grips! As time passed, we changed up the rules, into 2 players each VS another 2 players. At first I paired with Matthew, our challenging, or opponents were very hard to play but as we played, and against different people we were able to figure out different strategies, to beating or winning against them. We went through the same thing throughout the rest of our lesson, then our time was up.

Something I enjoyed about Badminton after all these lesson was having the ability work through different grips. I also liked working with different people, and learning new skills and ability from each different class mate or peers I have worked with.

I look forward to next weeks, lesson on Skateboarding, and also learning new things about others in my classroom, related to skateboarding.

๐Ÿธ Kiwisport Reflection (Badminton)๐Ÿธ

IALT: reflect on Kiwisport

Today, at 9.40 Room 9, travelled to hall using our legs, for Kiwisport. The sport we were learning, and practicing was BADMINTON. Today's Badminton lesson was all about MOVEMENT, but before we got started we started the lesson of with a little "Stuck In The Mud". Today's rules changed a little, the rules that if had gotten tagged, in order to be free someone has to come and clap between your legs still applied... But the change of rules were the 3 taggers and everyone else had to move by left and right! We played at 2 games, then the Badminton fun began.

Ben (Kiwisport Instructor), talked about how we are going to use our four hand grips, and backhand grip, relates to our leg movements towards the shuttle. If we were right handed, the movements of our legs should go, Left leg forward first followed by our right leg, with our racket held b y our right hand, swinging towards the shuttle either in the four hand grip, or the backhand grip. If you were a left hander it was really similar, the racket should be held by your left hand, and your right leg should move first followed by your left leg, and your hand & racket swinging in the same direction (left), with either a backhand grip, or a four hand grip. The boy's were put outside to practice outside due to the small space in our hall, and to avoid people from getting hurt. I paired up with ANA, and we practiced using these leg, and arm movements.

The aim of this was to not only reach for the shuttle but actually have movements inside of you! At first I found it very difficult, but in the long run Ben did help me improve more, on what I needed to improve on. The most challenging part of this game that I found was keeping inside my brain that your racket should be held in your right hand, and your left leg should move first then your right leg (Because I am right handed). Once that activity was over, we were gathered back into the hall and he talked how we could try and use the movements we were just practicing, and putting them into action, By this I mean using them in relies. Myself, and Ana, tried our best using these but I think the hardest part of this was when we had to keep in mind that we had to use before. At the end of that the lesson was finished!

I believe throughout the lesson the most difficult part overall was when, we had to have relies using the movement skills Ben taught us, using our legs and arms!

Next time I look forward to working on improving more on my movements, and less reaching for the shuttle and more moving towards the shuttle.

๐Ÿ˜…Kiwipsort Badminton Reflection๐Ÿ˜…

I am learning to reflect on Kiwisport (Badminton)

Today Room 9 had a Kiwisport lesson. This was the first kiwisport lesson we had this year! Ben which was our instructor talked us through the basics of Badminton, and then we got into it! If you would like to read more about my reflection and my experince on my 1st Kiwisport lesson this year please keep reading!

MY REFLECTION
Kiwisport - Badminton

Badminton? Have you ever played the sport or wondered about it, well today for kiwisport Room 9 was lucky enough to have Badmington, for KIWISPORT!
I will be reflecting and talking about what we did at KIWISPORT…
Today at approximately 9.40 Room 9 had Kiwisport with Ben, who was the Badminton instructor for the next  4 weeks. At first we went through the basics, and talked about the equipment. We talked about the shuttle, and the racket. We also talked about 2 grips that we learnt about which was the 4 hand grip, and the backhand grip. He also talked about how we can remember to hold these grips.. For example we can remember to hold the 4 grip by basically imagining you're holding a frying pan, and as for the backhand grip, imagine you're shaking another person’s hand. We had Badmington in the School Hall, but then as we finished discussing the basics, we went outside for a warm up game, which was Stuck in the Mud. Ben picked 3 taggers, and if you were tagged you had to stand with your legs apart and your hands up, and in order to be free, someone had to clap in between your legs. The purpose of us learning about Badminton, is so we can be educated not only for learning new things like math and reading (subjects), but also sports.. (Physical Education). After our warm up we had to pair up, and practicing passing the shuttle at each other by using one of the grips.. The aim of this activity was basically to try your best to keep the shuttle in the air. I paired with Ana, first we decided to use the four hand grip to keep the shuttle of the ground, then we tried to use the backhand grip. The most challenging art for me in this activity was using the backhand grip t try and keep the shuttle from hitting/touching the ground. Then we played Follow the Leader, well as I like to call it.. The aim of this game was for the follower to follow the leader. For example if the leader was using backhand grip to keep the shuttle ofthe ground the follower would also use the backhand grip to keep the shuttle of the ground, and so then it would switch up, and the follower then would be the leader now. Everything was hard at first but as I used Ben’s advice I learned how to control the shuttle, and hit the shuttle with control at a sensible height rather than usually hitting the shuttle to high up and getting it stuck somewhere. Today I learnt how to hold to grips, backhand and 4 hand, Overall the most challenging part I found from this lesson was controlling the shuttle by using the backhand grip!  Next week my main focus will be learning how to control the shuttle more using the backhand grip! And also focusing on the main lesson for next week. I look forward to Kiwisport (Badmington) very much next week!
