🌊Vector Whitewater Rafting Experience🌊

IALT: reflect on the creation I made with 2 of my peers, reflecting on our Vector Whitewater Rafting trip/experince.

So, as you may or may not have known room 9 went to the Vector Whitewater Park on Friday located in Manukau. After going through that experince, images were sent to us, and tasks were given! Our task was to think of a creative way to showcase or reflect on what we did. So I individually created a "powtoon" showcasing, Images of us being there, a little description of what we did, were we went, and also where it wa located. I also put in some of the rules that were laid out.

While doing this task I wanted to think of something else that would hook my audience in, and as I was thinking I looked over and Ana, & Akanesi were creating a poster. Therefore after viewing, and helping them out I was able to connect the idea's and dots together. Why don't we combine!? I mean like it makes sense, the work was shared between ourselves, and were also creatively show casing this to others. So, basically it's a WIN, WIN!

So we saved, and downloaded the poster they created using a Google Drive application - Google Drawing, and inserted it onto the powtoon I made, and from their own as 1 group of 3 we all edited things that needed to be edited, and things that needed a little more work on, and some that needed less more work on.

Here I will be providing with you a link that will give you access to view the powtoon, or movie I made on a different webistes. And that will be provided for us HERE... Hope you enjoy!

While completing this task as 1 group I realised, more to this experince than just having fun, and learning new skills about Whitewater Rafting. I was able to develop how you can achieve more in life when sometimes you work in a team. Basically that "TEAMWORK" is the key!

The next experince I have related to Whitewater Rafting, I would like to see how much I can achieve in a different group. Now that I have been able to see the distance of success I have gone with the former, group I was in I would like to experince how far I could go in achievements and success with a whole different group, and with different people.

Anyways, do you have any feedback, feedforward, suggestions, or advice on the creation we made?! But also maybe you should try using powtoon in your next creation making. Simply log in to your google drive, click on "NEW", and from their go down to "MORE", and from their you will see there should be option show casing "Connect more apps", and by clicking their simply search Powtoon, and add it to your drive!

But I hope you've enjoyed this reflection, and creation!
Have a great day... Many Thanks!

🏸Final Badminton Reflection🏸

IALT: reflect on our FINAL Badminton session!

As if from today, at 9.40AM was officially our last Badminton lesson for the rest of the YEAR! Our instructor BEN, has helped me learn a lot with Badminton with the past few weeks we were working with him. For example, how to hold different racquet grips, and the best way to also approach and reach out for the shuttle! Honestly, I am very devastated knowing  that it was our last week, but I am also very interested and looking forward, to our next sport which is SKATEBOARDING!

We firstly, just started with a normal warm up! The only thing was when we had started with the warm-up, it wasn't stuck in the mud! We tried something new, the game we played was that if someone, was to touch the area, around or our knees, you have to do 5 star jumps, and you were basically back in the game!

As we were playing this game the one thing, that I found challenging was that because a big class, was playing in a small space, it was hard for me not to bump, hit or break anything! I felt like we were a given a small space to play around, which was a real big challenge, seeing the active happy faces!

Then throughout the whole lesson, all we did was play 1 on 1, badminton using a net! We were divided into 2 different groups, and each group had to be formed into a line, waiting for a/their turn to play! It was really hard at first because I kept hitting the shuttle to hard, and with less control, but as timed passed I was able, to put more control into my hand, and also grips! As time passed, we changed up the rules, into 2 players each VS another 2 players. At first I paired with Matthew, our challenging, or opponents were very hard to play but as we played, and against different people we were able to figure out different strategies, to beating or winning against them. We went through the same thing throughout the rest of our lesson, then our time was up.

Something I enjoyed about Badminton after all these lesson was having the ability work through different grips. I also liked working with different people, and learning new skills and ability from each different class mate or peers I have worked with.

I look forward to next weeks, lesson on Skateboarding, and also learning new things about others in my classroom, related to skateboarding.

🍝Food Technology Reflection🍝

IALT: reflect, and explain on what happened at Food Technology!

Today at Technology it was weird, and different for everyone! The first thing Mrs Tuipulotu did was separate the two Year 7 students & Year 8 students. Both different year levels were making 2 different things. The year 8 students, which was the group I was in were making Mini Quench just like last week, but instead we were making our own pastry! We had to taste it, and see what the difference was! The year 7 students were making Pasta Salad! If you were in the year 8 group you had to find yourself a year 8 buddy, just like the year 7's! My usual buddy was Demetrius, but because he was year 7 students, I had to buddy up with Curty's. I felt excited at first because, making this with a buddy that I have never worked with, gave me the ability to develop new and different things from one another! Which is kind of the same as showing our school value AKO!

Here is the ingredients we used in order to create Mini Quench with our own pastry!

METHOD:
  • 130g plain flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 60g butter, diced
  • 2-3 tablespoon water
  • 3 eggs
  • 150mL cream
  • 1⁄2 onion, diced finely
  • 100g grated cheese
  • 2 rashers of bacon, cooked
Now that you have viewed, and read about the ingredients you can now, read the step by step process/cycle, of using the method!

METHOD:

  1. Rub the butter into the salt and flour mixture until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  2. Using a flat bladed knife, form into a ball of pastry with the water.
  3. Cover in cling film and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  4. Prepare the egg custard mixture by whisking eggs and cream together.
  5. Prepare the ingredients for the filling.
  6. Grease a quiche flan tin.
  7. Roll out the pastry and ease into the quiche pan.
  8. Refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  9. Line base with baking paper and fill with baking beans.
  10. Blind bake for 10 minutes.
  11. Place onions on pastry, then grated cheese, top with bacon and other ingredients.
  12. Gently pour the egg custard mixture over the filling.
Bake for 40 minutes or until golden and quiche is set.

The equipment we used in order to successfully create this were...
  • Whisk
  • 3 Bowls
  • Rolling Pin
  • Chopping Board
  • Knife
  • Baking Tin
Something I found challenging, and hard was being buddies with another person! Mainly because I am use to pairing up, and working with Demetrius, but I'm always open for new things, and new opportunities.

I enjoyed seeing how Curty's works, and also developing a new set and different set of cooking skills to use, in the kitchen next time!

Finishing Touch:

Myself, & Curty's:
