Cybersmarts - Shopping Online Poster

IALT: send a helpful message through shopping online on a digital poster.

Miss Shearing came in and gave us what we would be talking about. It was all about online shopping. As a class, we scrolled through a presentation showing some 'shopping failures'. A 'shopping failure' is basically ordering something online, and not getting it the way expected. The examples on these are inserted above. ⇧

So yes it is funny, but in reality it's actually a bit frustrating. Personally, I see shopping online as a risk. You could be ordering something from a scammed website, giving your bank number details to an untrustworthy, and negative human being!

What else did we talk about? Oh yes, online tips and tricks. Miss shearing gave us that little tip, so by the time we reach the age of shopping online, we are aware of our choices. By spotting 'scammed' websites they're could be, spelling errors, make sure what your reading stands towards a decent professinilism level, paying attention to the questions asked (card pin..) and to also look for the 's' in the https, in your omnibox to ensure your website is secure.

Then we focused on..'email scams'. I find it that I am sent a lot of emails for things I don't use. Be aware that some emails could inform you about sales, while others are trying to persuade to buy things, or for you to give in your card details, or address when really its all a lie.

We looked at some realistic but example emails. Where a woman would a email explaining how one, has won an $100 Itunes card. Then asking for their transaction number.. and log in details.

Scams can be everywhere. Websites, Emails, Social Media, and more. But to help us in our desicion making related to 'online shopping' in the future Miss Shearing showed us a DLO listed of things on how we might be able to tell its a fake, scammed, website, email, or even advertisment. Take a peek.

Our last task, before interval started was to create a poster sending and showing a positive 'awareness' that could help online shoppers.

As I created my poster I thought catchy, and 1 themed. So I went with colourful.
Check it out down below!

My next steps is to... interview or ask about if any of my family relatives have been scammed, using what website, what was at risk, what did they loose, basically all those questions to help keep my readers informed.

What I wish to improve on next time is concentrating better. My concentration during this lesson was 85%-90% good through out the whole lesson. But I wish to achieve staying 100% focused, but at the same time making sure I'm having a decent amount of fun, laughs, and smiles!

What did I find challenging, well it's simple! Thinking about my online message. I believe that if I had interviewed my family members, or researched about these 'online shopping failures' I would've been able to find that one message that stood out to me. But personally, through what we talked about with Miss Shearing I was able to understand and identify some very important online shopping messages. For example...............
  • Make sure you're ordering from a legit website.
  • Be aware your giving a decent size of information.
  • Is they're spelling errors?
  • Is your seller realistic, and is their any suspicious errors?
Along with a lot more!

How do you think I can improve more in cybersmarts? & Why?

Hey, to those reading my blog.. Are you an online shopper, and are you aware?!

Muchly Appreciated,

πŸ—Ί️ Digital Map - Cybersmarts πŸ—Ί️

IALT: create a map showing the last 24 hours of my digital learning.

This is a bit of a late blog post but that's alright! With cybersmarts one of our tasks were create a map showing the websites we have accessed or been on for the past 24 hours during our school time.

As I went through through my history I only accessed 9 different sites.

The most enjoyable part of this task for me was working with my peers and classmates in order to get this task completed. We worked collaboratively together and were able to complete the task to the task completed.

My next steps? Are to.. complete all the tasks next time to the standard expected. Because I was quite unsure I wasn't able to find this task as simple, but then as I asked around to my peers, and classmates I was able to find out what I should have been doing with the task given.

πŸ’»Infographic - Quality Blog Post πŸ’»

IALTL reflect on how I have just created a Infographic about a Quality blog post.

10.00AM today Miss Shearing came in for another Cybersmarts lesson with room 9. Not only did she come in with some more knowledge  on Cybersmarts but also a new task beside that. Have you ever heard of an Infographic? Well, that was part of our task! We had to use an Google Drive Application - Google Drawing in order to create an Infographic about an Quality Blog Post. You may find that we have been learning around a lot for Quality Blog Posts, but this task was espically engaging for me. At first I wasn't familiar with this so called.. Infographic task but after Miss Shearing had ran it through with us I had an certain image and idea in my head. The way Miss Shearing had described it was as if it was a poster filled with screenshots, images, and information of the topic given! So as Miss Shearing was speaking I began to slowly form an idea of how I imagined, and pictured what my Infographic would be pictured as. As I was planning Miss Shearing talked about how in this Infographic should have only 2 main colours. But with those 2 colours you could choose 4 different shades for both colours as in 2 shades for 1 colour!

Do you have any thoughts on how I can improve more on this so called Infographic?

If I were to this task differently in the future I would have to try and brainstorm more idea's related to the subjects I am currently learning in class. As in quality blogging about Maths, Reading, Writing, Inquiry, P.E and any more educational activities in outside the classroom! And from then relating them into this topic.

Something that challenged me to the best of my ability was having to research about what a Infographic is! But after using the understandings of myself, and my peers I was able to find what this is in my own mindset.

My next steps in learning are to think about how I can blog more with activities, or programs in school, and even out of school but educational of course.

Do you think you can help me out with my next steps in learning?

Cybersmarts - Reflection

IALT: reflect on Cybersmarts with Mrs Shearing

Image result for cybersmarts

If you had read my blog post, earlier last week you must have read about how every Tuesday morning, at 10.00AM Mrs Shearing who was from Manaiakalani organization.

Today we had to complete a presentation, in pairs of 2 filling out a presentation, filled with keyboard shortcuts. For example what is the keyboard shortcut, for opening a new tab, closing a tab, and re-opening a previous tab.

Today, we learnt that our class had a new site for 2017. In that site there are many different area's.. for example

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Maths
  • Inquiry
  • Technology
  • Cybersmarts
Working as partners, was given to us! But as I worked with Ana, another one of my peers... made me realise what I need to improve on as I learner.. for example working with a partner, had helped me realise what needs to be done, as in extending my vocabulary more, and looking for new ways and strategies, to progress my learning.

Some that was challenging for me, was finding some keyboard shortcuts that I didn't know the answer to. Until taking responsibility for my learning, and researching about it in the omnibox, finding the answer, and therefore taking responsibility for my learning.

I have tried my best in completing this task to the best of my ability. If you have helpful positive, thoughts that occurs to your brain/head/mind, that you think could help me improve more on Cybersmarts/Blogging...
