Kiwi Can... - RESPECT

IALT: reflect on what we learnt at Kiwi Can.

Yesterday we had Kiwi Can.. Our theme is something completely different for the next few weeks. It's all about respect. We got into the hall, and saw Miss Lily. Sadly it was only her and we missed out on having Mr Malu as our other teacher. We got straight into it...

We started talking about what our next topic is 'respect'. The defining what it means, and what it could look like. For example respect could be..

  • Listening to the speaker
  • Facing the speaker
  • Not talk while other are talking
  • Showing your manners
And much more. Some of my peers in my class weren't getting involved. Either they were stuck, or they were just shy! I personally was a bit to shy also, which is understable to my peers.

The next part was getting into our activity. It was called 'Sally, Sally'. It wasn't a person but a song. The point of this activity was to follow the instructions. Stand up when the lyrics of the song went, 'Sally go up', well squat up basically.... and and squat your way down when the lyrics of the song played.. 'Sally go down'. As a class we formed a circle and started the activity.

We sat down, still in a circle and discussed what happens if people judge you and don't RESPECT the way you are. If you get putdowns.. some of the answers we got were..
  • You begin to loose confidence.
  • Judge yourself!
  • Put yourself down.
  • You won't wanna be included.
  • You easily give up
All these answers related to me in a way. Before I judged myself on how.. I wasn't the best sports player, or I wasn't as good as others when it came to specific things... because of others. But now that I have been able to RESPECT myself, I can give those things a go and I've found that I have hidden talents when it comes to sports too. Instead of giving up.. I would rather give it a go regardless of judgements.

The energiser we had was about..knowledge and fitness. We were spilt into 2 different groups. As the song plays one group would lay on their stomachs and follow the instructions of the song. When it says up, hold your plank position, when it says down.. stop holding your plank position. While that group was busy with that..the opposite team would choose 1 member to be given an animal. And the 2nd team would ask YES/NO questions to try and guess the animal. The team to guess the animal the fastest would avoid the oppsite team from holding longer planks.

We gathered back in and talked more about respecting other. That was over and it was time for a bit of General Knowledge Questions. We got up into groups of 4-5 to verse our peers before finishing up. There were questions such as..
  • What is the actions and song to the new catchphrase?
  • What is the most known farm animal in New Zealand?
And much more. Before we knew it time was up, and we were lining on our way to class!

I really enjoyed this lesson. I had an open mind, and set a goal to try new things and give them a go, without judging myself which I was able to achieve!

What are your thoughts on this? How do you think I did judging on my reflection?

Please leave a comment down below for me to view and use in the future.

Gratefully Appreciated,

πŸ‘Kiwi Can Reflection - Resilience & Emotions πŸ‘

IALT: show and understand in my own perspective the definition of Resilience.

Kiwi Can Says... Let's talk about Resilience. So, in today's lesson was about a mixture of 2 main topics. Resilience and Emotions. Our lesson plan was simple, firstly we had to share our own personal understanding, and knowledge about what Resilience means to ourself. In my opinion what I see Resilience as in my own words is that it means always doing things to the best of your ability, and never being that person who easily gives up. We shared a lot of great idea's that helped comfort me in particapating, and taking part more. By sharing our ideas with one another I was able to find myself to set a goal in relation to Resilience. The goal I had set was to try best in showing Resilience everywhere I go. By accomplishing this goal will help me to also leave better example in different places (consistency).

Now, onto Emotions. With emotions we started of by separating ourselves into 4 different groups. In these different groups we were secretly given a emotion. In your group you had to imagine you were in a band with no sound. At first I thought this was silly, but as we got more deeper into the activity I found it entertaining and fun at the same time. The first emotion my group was given was Depression. The kiwi can instructors would then play a instrumental song or a song, and as they played the group would play along. Going deeper into the topic of Emotions, we then started listing them. For example...
  • Depression
  • Excitement
  • Joy
  • Sad
  • Happy
And much more. Then before I knew it the lesson was over and it was time for class.

The one thing I learnt overall during this lesson was... to understand the definition of Resilience to my peers and also my friends.

I look forward to the future Kiwi Can lessons we have based on Resilience. I hope I can begin to learn and develop more as I shall become more involved with these discussions.

What does Resilience mean to you?
Do you value other people's feelings/emotions?

I'll get back to you at any available time!

Muchly Appreciated!

🌞Kiwi Can - Reflection 🌞

IALT: reflect on what I had learnt about Reliability, and also about the games, energizers and activities we had played during the time we had at Kiwi Can.

Yesterday, was the day for Room 9's Kiwi Can lesson. But there was a bit of a twist not only was it room 9's Kiwi Can lesson but also a couple of our fellow students from room 7, and also our buddy class room 3. When we walked in we reflected on some of the things we learnt in the past lessons we had.  Which was honesty.. responsibility.. and also integrity! But now in Kiwi Can we have a new topic for the next couple of weeks which is.. Reliability. We discussed what it might mean to ourselves. In my eyes I think this means to me, when someone is relying and counting on you to do something right consistently. We also went through an amazing Samoan traditional dance which is known as the "sasa". The fist move started as keeping your head facing the ground, then they will say "talolo", and keep it where it is.. along with "sa'u", then lift your head and that's when all the moved were thrown at you. All the moved we did for me was too long to remember, but I hope to learn more about this Samoan traditional dance. We also played a grouping game. So you basically walk around and one of the Kiwi Can teacher (Miss Lily, & Mr Malu) will call out a number. And the number they call out is the number of people you must in your group. The people left behind who couldn't get in a group fast enough are then out.

What are your thoughts on this reflection? Any feedback, feedforward, & suggestions on what you think I can improve on next time?!

Something I liked in this lesson was being able to think about what it means to me.. and also thinking and hearing about all the thoughts of my other peers and classmates! Especially from other younger, older classrooms.

Please leave a comment below, and I look forward to getting back to you ASAP!
Thanks for stopping by and viewing though... :)
